The player then learns of the existence of an alien race called Precursors which were there on the planet with the aim of studying bacteria called Khaara which escaped because of an accident and in all that hassle the player also gets infected. On its mission, the aurora gets hit by unknown energy pulse and crash lands on 4546B where the other players perish and only the player survives. They provide a ship called Aurora whose purpose is to construct high-speed space travel structure and find a lost ship named Degasi which was lost in the planet 4546B.
The PC game Subnautica takes place in the late 22 nd century when the humans have started colonizing in other planets.
